Sunne Luminaire, a solar mood light that simulates the effect of sunlight

Sunne Luminaire is a self- and solar-powered mood (ambient) light with hues that captures the sunset. In 2021, award-winning solar light designer Marjan van Aubel and her team launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a new design in the Solar Drive range. Then, in 2022, Marjan van Aubel joined in the team with Erwin Marge, another solar lighting engineer, to form the Sunne brand. Driven by a shared love of solar energy, the duo have brought together modern aesthetics, sustainability and advanced lighting technology to create a self-powered product that fits seamlessly into the home.

Suspended in front of the window, Sunne Luminaire harvests energy from the sun and stores it in its integrated battery. This ambient light requires no plugs or external power, turns on automatically at sunset, and can be adjusted in three modes to mimic all of the sun's natural moments - sunrise, sunset and daylight.

Harnessing Solar Energy at home

The Sunne lamp is 80cm long and hangs in front of the window with a simple and secure suspension system, without any external plugs or electric wires. This ambient solar light, suspended from two steel wires, mimics the hue of the sky during the day, while its oval shape is reminiscent of the horizon. Its curvilinear shape incorporates solar cells that harvest energy during the day and store it in an integrated battery to create ambient light at night. To turn the device on and off, simply touch the sensor on the light's aluminum frame or use the App. While enjoying the changing light modes of this solar ambient lamp, people could relax and feel calm in the sunset. It might help people to readjust their moods. Before the bed time, this solar mood light could help people prepare themselves for night sleep.
